Make more Putts TODAY! By Mike Sparks, PGA Professional Print E-mail
Tip 1: Foundation

If you watch people putt, you will see that the good putters tend to have one thing in common, regardless of the type of putter or technique that they use. Good putters keep their bodies still as they stroke their putts. This gives them the solid foundation they need to have a good, repeatable putting stroke.

Watch other people and see how much they tend to move their bodies as they putt. You will be surprised to find how much most people's bodies move as they make that putting stroke. You will see that the better putters have the least amount of movement because they have the most solid foundation. If you want to improve your putting quickly, concentrate on keeping your body still as you putt. You will be amazed at the results!

Tip 2: Feel

Think about how the stroke felt as you watch where the ball rolls. Repeat this procedure over and over. As you do, you will find that your mind begins to understand the how far the ball will roll with each stroke that you take. Your mind then subconsciously begins to control how hard you hit the ball. You will be amazed at how quickly you begin to "feel" the distance between your ball and your target. Give it a try! You will become a much better "feel" putter.
